Makunduchi Village Tour by Bike
Makunduchi Village Tour by Bike
ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE
Red soil. Red clay huts. Banana plantations. Huge mango trees. A quiet slow life. This is Makunduchi. Zanzibar’s second biggest village and a typical African/Zanzibari village where life just goes on. And on. We will take you through the gardens and plantations, pass the school, look at some stunning clay huts, visit Hajis aunt that makes coconut rope, chat with the locals and try fruit and local specialties on the way. We bring bikes so we can slowly bike around to cover the whole area. You can choose to bike back or go back with the bikes in the open vehicle.
Easy-paced cycling, frequent stops for photos and conversations, and genuine interactions with local residents along the route.
Mama Hassan is earning her living from making coconut rope. It looks easy but it is quite a handicraft – as you will notice when you try. Another thing that looks very easy is to climb up a coconut tree. Big reward if you manage!
Explored by bicycle, this low-impact tour produces no emissions while supporting local guides and village communities. It encourages slow travel, cultural exchange, and a deeper understanding of daily life in southern Zanzibar.
